LANDSCAPES
local to this area come in a lot of flavors. Some are gentle and easy to see and others are a bit more work and are more rugged. I tend to take pictures of landscapes that seem interesting to me for one reason or another. It may be due to a certain artistic balance, visually, or the way the sky and mountains work in harmony, or just because I like the way things look.
I hope you enjoy these images that I present to you. They are only a glimpse of a very few captured moments in time of very specific places. In an area like this it'd be easy to capture thousands of different views and make the study of local landscapes a lifelong project, but for now I'm content to let you see just a little. If you want to see more, take a vacation and see what this area is really like first hand. Pictures will never be a substitute for the eyes and mind, but as an art form that stands alone, photography can be very satisfying at times because it's a translation of what the mind has seen and it can be enhanced and altered or left to stand on it's own. Below you will find some images that would have suffered by any manipulation, and others that benefitted by it, giving a mood to an otherwise placid image that it didn't previously possess.
The picture above is called "Mystic Mountains" and is taken from near the studio.
